SKYELANDER DISC WHEELS
The standard Skyelander disc rim is the Andra 321 700c 32 hole rim.

The DT Swiss GR531 disc rim is an upgrade option.

All Andra rims are built to withstand and carry more load than regular rims so they’re excellent on a touring bike like the Skyelander. The internal width for the Andra 321 is 21 millimetres for more stability with tyres 28mm upwards. The higher profile also adds a surplus of stiffness to the design.

All of our wheels are handbuilt in Sussex. Wheels hand built by an experienced builder can significantly increase their strength versus those machine built. On the Skyelander 700c they are built on the sealed and durable Shimano Deore XT hubs using stainless steel spokes. The double contact sealing of the XT hub with its internal grease sleeve helps to keeps out water and dirt from the bearings maximising the smoothness and longevity whilst keeping the grease in place. The Borozon treated cup and cone bearing races deliver precision low-friction rolling and durability.
The wheels are finished off with the Schwalbe Marathon Mondial Performance 35mm tyres providing a good combination of grip, puncture resistance and rolling speed.
We now use Schwalbe inner tubes in all of our wheels.

For heavier riders we can tweak a few things - the rim choice (i.e. Ryde Andra 40) and the tyres - please get in touch if this is of interest
